Cost: $160

For all the mothers and daughters, those who have lost mothers, those who long to be mothers, those who have chosen not to be mothers - Come join us this Mothers Day to not only celebrate and honour our mothers but to also celebrate and honour all the women in our lives. For this special occasion we have curated a selected gift bag for each person which is included in the ticket price.

Come and get messy with Mother Nature and unearth the art of botanical dyeing. A multi-sensory and immersive experience that will enable you to slow-down, reconnect and create mindfully.

We will explore the technique of bundle dyeing, using botanicals and food waste to produce pattern and infuse natural pigment into the fibres. Consciously creating a one-of-a kind silk scarf by harnessing nature's beautiful offerings.

Whilst our bundles steam and evolve, we will play with the magic of alchemy. Painting with botanicals on watercolour paper and introducing natural pH modifiers to create a rainbow of possibilities on paper.

Abi will guide you through…

- Botanicals and food waste and the colours they yield
- Natural fibres and fabric preparation with mordants
- The art of bundle dyeing through wrapping and steaming
- Natural pH colour modifiers

This workshop is a wonderful introduction to botanical dyeing, producing environmentally conscious textiles and adding colour to your wardrobe in a mindful and sustainable manner. The bundle dyeing technique is an immersive and efficient way to revitalise existing garments and create pattern and colour in harmony with nature.

All dye materials are non-toxic, sustainably sourced and grown by Abi in her Mother's garden.

Materials and equipment are provided...
A habutai silk scarf
A beautiful selection of dried, fresh and frozen flowers, leaves and other botanicals
Food waste (eg. onion skins, berries, spices)
Colour pH modifiers
Watercolour paper and materials for alchemy play

In preparation… you can bring

Any botanicals from your garden, wilting cut flowers or food waste that you would like to experiment with. (Not everything will yield colour but we can trial and discover)

Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in!
